Configuration of 4-Noks devices

In this section, the following topics are going to be addressed:

  1. Assign addresses to 4Noks Devices
  2. Change frequency of 4Noks Devices

1. Assign addresses to 4Noks Devices

There are two systems to assign addresses to 4Noks devices:

  • Devices with a binary switch
  • Other devices

 

1.1 Binary Switch

Most 4Noks devices use a switch system to determine their address. Each switch represents a bit of the binary address being the left swich the Less Significant Bit. Do not use addresses smaller than 16.
Address = Switch1*1 + Switch2*2 + Switch3*4 + Switch4*8 + Switch5*16 + Switch6*32 + Switch7*64 + Switch8*128

1.2 Other devices

Some 4Noks devices do not have a switch to set the address and the configuration is made using either a Z-HANDZER device or manually sending modbus commands.
 

1.3 Z-HANDZER

Follow this steps:

  1. Turn the Z-HANDZER on.
  2. Select "Join Netw":
    Z-HANDZER-M join network
  3. Select "Commands":
    z handzer m command
  4. Select "Sens Menu":
    z handzer m sens menu
  5. Selecct "Set Address":
    4noks z-handzer-m set addr
  6. You're done

 

1.4 Modbus Commands (advanced users only)

To be able to change the address you need to send 3 messages:

  1. Read Input register 0 of address 127.* 
  2. Write 6521 to Holding register 0 of address 127.
  3. Write X to Holding register 2 of address 127 (where X is the new address we want to use, 23 for example)
  4. Write 1 to Coil 0 of address 127
  5. Read Input register 0 of address X (where X is the address set in step 3).*

* Not really necessary but it is useful to check the connectivity with the device

2. Change frequency of 4Noks Devices

2.1 Modbus Commands (advanced users only)

To be able to change the frequency you need to the following messages:

  1. Read holding register 1 of the device.* 
  2. Write the new frequency (in seconds) to the holding register 1.
  3. Read holding register 1 of the device to verify that the change has been successful.

* Not really necessary but it is useful to check the connectivity with the device.

 HMETER-3P / ZR-HMETER-3P - Quick Install Guide

To follow this guide you will need:

Installation:

  1. Install the current transformers following the following diagram:

 ​​​

  1. Connect the 17th terminal of the HMETER to the A(+) terminal in DEXGate2, the 18th terminal of the HMETER o the B(-) terminal in DEXGate2 and the 16th terminal of the HMETER to the S terminal in DEXGate2
  1. Power up the meter
  2. Power up the DEXGate2
  3. Access the web administration interface of the DEXGate2 by connecting to its wifi access point and then enter (http://172.16.0.1)
  4. Login (the default username and password are admin/admin)
  5. Configure ModBus address on the device 

Default Modbus address is 127 and Baudrate is 9600. If you have only one HMETER you can use these values to connect to the device, without the need of changing its address or baudrate.

If necessary, Modbus Address has to be changed through RS485 by modifying certain registers. Look at the attached Quick Start Guide at section DEVICE ADDRESSING.

  1. Go to the "Modbus Configuration" section
  2. Edit the configuration lines of the HMETER
  • For three-phse monitoring edit the following lines adding the Modbus Address:
    • devices.fournoks-hmeter3p=
    • devices.fournoks-hmeter6p=
  • For single-phase monitoring edit the following lines adding the Modbus Address:
    • devices.fournoks-hmeter3p-mono=
    • devices.fournoks-hmeter6p-mono=

example: Lines should look like "devices.fournoks-hmeter6p=126,127" where 126 and 127 are addresses of two different devices
 

  1. Save & restart the modbus bridge or the DEXGate2
  2. You're done!

 8. HMETER-6P / ZR-HMETER-6P

NOTE: In case of adding some Zigbee devices like the ZR-HMETER, it is necessary to change the Working Mode of the gateway by writing the value 17 (default value is 21)  at the Holding Register [3]
