1. Advanced Analytics

The Advanced analytics feature gives you the freedom to create the analysis you need within DEXCell. You can now analyse and compare different energy sources, multiple devices and create custom reports with it.

This section contains the following topics:

  1. Analysis with one device
  2. Analysis with multiple devices
  3. Sharing the analysis

In order to start using advanced analytics, follow these steps:

Go to Analysis --> Advanced Analytics --> New Advanced Analytics

Captura_de_Pantalla_2019-02-14_a_les_14.50.20.png

Select then Add Data Series:

Captura_de_Pantalla_2019-02-14_a_les_14.55.26.png

You can then choose between Single Device or Multiple Devices:

1.1 Single Device Analysis

If we choose Single Device we can then select the parameter and device we want to analyse, along with the resolution, and whichever ratio we want:

Once we have selected a parameter, device and resolution, if we click the Save button, our Data Series will be displayed if we have uploaded data for the selected period within DEXCell. In this case, the selected period is the Last 7 days, but it can be customised to select any period. When updating the date, the chart is automatically updated to reflect the changes:

Clicking on the title field (in the above picture "Untitled Analysis") allows us to modify the title of our analysis. We can also edit the Data Series by clicking on the 3 dots and selecting edit:

Below the chart, we have a summary table with the different values of our analysis throughout the year:

We can add different devices of the same parameter type and analyse them together in different charts:

Line chart:

We can also change the type of chart beside the line chart displayed above.

Bar chart:

Stacked bars:

Pie chart:

Custom chart:

We can combine the different charts in a single one, to view for instance consumption on stacked bars chart and temperature on a line chart.

Scatter plot

We can also use scatter plot to compare the relation between 2 variables. If we choose scatter plot and click on configure, we can choose 2 parameters as follows.

In this example we chose an Active Energy from an HVAC system in the Y-axis and a Temperature from a Meteo station in the X-Axis:

Below the chart, we can see the R^2 correlation coefficient as well as the regression line formula. For the scatter plot to work, both selected parameters must have the same resolution.

Year Comparison

If we have historical data, we can compare our data throughout the years with this feature. We just need to select Yearly Comparison below the chart, and then select the range of years that we want to compare:

Export charts and tables

As with all charts and tables within DEXCell, we can export them to an excel file or use them in our custom reports. We can do so by selecting the buttons below the chart or table.

Chart options

Advanced analytics allows us to further customise our charts. We can do so by selecting the Chart Options button below the chart. With this we can change the axes, for instance, to change the unit from kWh:

to MWh:

Captura_de_Pantalla_2019-02-19_a_les_15.56.30.png

The axes in the chart are updated with this new scale in MWh:

1.2 Multiple devices

We can also do multiple devices analysis in Advanced Analytics.

If we select the root of our location hierarchy tree on the top of our screen, we can analyse multiple devices across several locations. Let's create a new analysis with a new Data Series with multiple devices. Add Data Series --> Multiple Devices:

Captura_de_Pantalla_2019-02-14_a_les_15.22.23.png

We can choose which parameter to analyse, the reference device and the hierarchy level within our locations tree, and we can filter by tags. We can choose which operation we want to perform with our devices: Sum, Mean, Median, Minimum, Maximum, Count, Standard Deviation or Percentile. We then choose the resolution and the ratios, and click on Add Data Series:

Captura_de_Pantalla_2019-02-14_a_les_16.47.48.png

The chart, in this case, displays the sum of the Active Energy data for all Electric main supply devices in the account.

Different energy sources

We can also add different data series with different supplies to analyse, for instance, water, gas and electricity:

Custom chart colours

If we select the colour in the legend, we can change it for every device:

1.3 Sharing my analysis

From the initial Advanced Analytics screen, (Analysis --> Advanced analytics) you can share your analysis with other DEXCell users by clicking on the share button:

Captura_de_Pantalla_2019-02-19_a_les_16.07.16.png

The sharing menu appears, where we can choose the user we want to invite. The users invited will be able to see the Analysis, but will not be able to edit it. If the user is not on the list, you can create it in the user settings or request it to your account administrator.

2. Custom Queries

One of the functionalities of DEXCell Energy Manager is the creation of custom queries.
In order to create a new query, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Analysis > Queries > New query
  2. Fill the gaps with the proper information
  • Date: indicate the period of time you want to visualize. This can be dynamic, selecting the "last period" or static, selecting a specific date range.
  • Parameters: select the parameter you want to make the query.
  • Devices: select the device or devices you want to make the query.
  • Groups: select, if you want, a group in the case you want to include it to the query.
  • Add right axis: you can make a double query in the same graph in the case you want to compare one or more devices for two different parameters. For example, daily electrical consumption vs degree days.
  1. Click to "Display" to view the query
  2. Click on "Save" to save the query or on "Edit" to edit the query you have previously made (please be aware that you must be in a location to save a query).
  3. All the queries saved will be stored on the left side of the screen, so you can consult it whenever you want.
