In this article, you will learn how to use the Demand Load module in the energy management platform.
Contents:
Introduction
The new Demand Load Page provides a clear and detailed visualisation of the demanded power for devices with Active Energy data. This feature replaces the Peak Demand and Demand Load market app, offering a simplified and more accurate way to track power loads and contracted loads (for users with Advanced or Ultimate licenses).
Here are its main features:
-
Visual representation of demand load: Bar charts indicating power demand trends.
-
Contracted Load Comparison: A blue line overlaying the graph, available for Advanced and Ultimate users.
-
Colour-coded Insights:
-
Green: No excess demand.
-
Red: Excess demand detected.
-
Grey: No contracted load available for comparison.
-
How Does it Work?
The Demand Load Page calculates the average power load for a given interval based on the active energy data available on the selected device.
Depending on the resolution of Active Energy data, the following conversion factors are applied:
Resolution | Conversion Factor |
5 min | 1/12 |
10 min | 1/6 |
15 min | 1/4 |
30 min | 1/2 |
Hourly | 1 |
Daily | 24 |
Weekly | 168 |
⚠️ Important: The calculations assume that Active Energy data is measured in kWh. If configured differently, results may be inaccurate.
For the contracted load, you will need to configure a supply, contract and price, and link the device and location to the supply. Find how to do it here.
How to access Demand Load module?
You can find the Demand Load module in Analytics or as a page section under the Analyse menu.
Who Can Use It?
-
Entry License Users: Can view the demanded load.
-
Advanced & Ultimate Users: Can view both demanded and contracted loads.
If you do not have access to this feature, please contact with your administrator.
Understanding Contracted Load Data
The contracted load is retrieved from the tariff structure and contract defined for the device. However, contracted load will not be displayed in the following cases:
-
If the device is missing cost configuration details (e.g., missing supply contract, price settings, or location linkage).
-
When selecting Daily, Weekly, or Monthly resolutions (since contract periods are typically defined at a half-hourly or hourly range).
-
If the contract period changes within the selected resolution (e.g., a tariff shift at 09:30 will prevent hourly visualisation).
Why Use the Demand Load module?
The Demand Load module is designed to provide a clearer and more efficient way to analyse energy demand. With its improved interface and data-driven insights, it helps users make better-informed decisions regarding their consumption.
-
Better visualisation: A modern interface with interactive charts.
-
Accurate calculations: Based on time-series data from the Analytics module.
-
Simplified access: Integrated into the main Analyse section.
-
More insights: Contracted load comparison helps detect inefficiencies.
This module enhances visibility into demand patterns, helping to optimize energy usage and improve operational efficiency.
